The president's nominee for the Supreme Court of the United States is Obama in a dress.
Our chief executive is way, way, way more centrist than conservatives claim. (It's the black skin that throws 'em into viewing him as "the other"--i.e., not a late middle-aged white man--and thus a socialist/fascist/communist/alien/bloodsucking vampire.)
Kagan is decidedly middle of the road.
