Christopher Hitchens argues that letting women wear the burqa or other face covering in public equates to allowing the KKK to go hooded while at the bank.
He has a point.

Do we dare lecture the French for declaring simply that all citizens and residents, whatever their confessional allegiance, must be able to recognize one another in the clearest sense of that universal term?"
