Take it and run?

That seems to be the consensus on the health-insurance reform bill now idling in the Senate. Hit the post title for Ezra Klein's take on why progressives should mourn the loss of the public-option  battle but celebrate winning the war.

Strong points of the current reform bill, Klein notes:
• Those who can't afford premiums will get monetary aid.
• Insurance companies can't refuse coverage to the sick. (As someone with a "pre-existing condition," I think this is a big, big deal.)
• The healthy must buy coverage, so the risk pool is larger for insurance companies.

Meanwhile, statistician extraordinaire Nate Silver crunches the numbers to show how much money this bill would save a family of four making $54,000. See post graphic.
